It was an excellent experience. The location was unbeatable—just a 10 to 15-minute walk to all the main hotspots, with easy access to public transportation like trains and buses. Everything we needed was within walking distance, and there was even a small, affordable parking lot nearby where we could leave our rental car, which was incredibly convenient. The staff at the reception were incredibly friendly and very professional, explaining everything we needed to know. While the lobby is quite small, it’s very cozy and well-designed, offering free water, tea, and coffee all day long. There are also two washing machines and dryers available for free use, which was a great bonus. The interior of the hotel is modern and tastefully decorated. Despite being fully booked, we hardly heard any noise from neighboring rooms. The only small drawback was that our room was on the ground floor with no view, as it was right next to another building. However, this was a minor issue that didn’t detract from our overall enjoyment. The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive, and we really appreciated the small touches like fresh towels and bottled water provided daily, even though we opted not to have our room cleaned. The in-room coffee was also delicious! All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for its excellent location, modern amenities, and friendly staff.

This was a traditional Ryokan style and we stayed in what was probably a smaller suite. It was a bit tricky with suitcases and show removal with 3 people in a small area (neither shoes nor cases are allowed in the living area of the room - they are left in a small entrance within your room). For this reason, it could be a good idea to price up for a bigger room if there are 3 or more of you, bearing in mind it becomes a bit more expensive. There was an external laundry which worked well. Reception were lovely, very helpful. The Ryokan is situated in a lovely, quiet area of Kyoto. Very traditional and nice to walk around, we found an excellent Katsudon restaurant within 5-7 minutes walking distance. In general, the location was a bit further from Gion and surrounds but walkable. Our room had a beautiful private garden with water feature and traditional sitting areas. Lovely, albeit small, bathroom. We walked from Kyoto station to the Ryokan and it took about 30 minutes but flat ground all the way.

I absolutely loved staying here. The location is a short walk to the bus/train lines to get to various attractions. Additionally, restaurants and grocery stores were in close proximity. The staff were so courteous and helpful. We had a large room with an additional sleeping area/den with two twin beds for our kids. The design was a modern version of a Japanese home. There was a small fridge, microwave and stove top with utensils for heating up food at odd hours of the night from jet lag as well. The property also had a laundry room with detergent that guests could use for free. Service was excellent. When we didn’t have our room requested to be cleaned, a tote bag was dropped off at our door with fresh towels, coffee and plastic bags for trash. They also helped us ship our luggage to the airport. I highly recommend staying here for anyone who is visiting Kyoto. I was very sad to leave.
